I

in my own words

I

“It's okay to be multi-disciplinary.”

I like figuring out how things work, making things look right and occasionally disappearing down a completely unrelated rabbit hole.

Home, plural

I've lived in a few places.
Home is a complicated question.

Packing: personal best.

We moved around quite a bit when I was growing up. Every new place meant starting over, finding my people and getting used to a different version of everyday life.

Maybe that's why I still like exploring places. I'm in Guwahati now, with the rest of the Northeast waiting to be explored.

Seven states is the goal. Three down, four to go.

A favourite frame from the Northeast.

Window seat. Obviously.

Snob in training · The vinyl player

A very good record collection is the dream.

A record player, a carefully curated stack of vinyl and excellent taste in music. I'm working towards all three. For now, this digital version will do.

The analogue dream. The digital reality.

Pretending there's a needle involved.

Record 1 of 3 · for sketching

[album title]

[artist]

[Why this one: the record I put on when the sketchbook comes out.]

The coffee receipt

I want to become a coffee connoisseur.

At the moment, I'm better at drinking coffee than explaining it. I know what I like ordering. I'd like to get to the point where I know why I like it, too.

So I'm trying different coffees, asking questions and figuring it out one cup at a time.

The research is ongoing.

Verdict: pending.

███░░

Oat flat white. The usual. Still no questions.

Painting in a café, Shillong.

[Year]

I did eventually look up from the sketchbook.

Off the screen

I still like making things the old-fashioned way.

Cap off. No going back.

A Micron pen, a watercolour tin and something worth drawing. That's usually enough.

I like the slowness of it. No layers to rename, no files to organise and no undo button. You make a mark and figure out what to do with it.

Sometimes it's nice to make something without needing it to go anywhere.
